What Can The Be Cause For The Lymph Nodes Swelling?

I have 2 swollen lymph nodes on each side of my neck that have been there for 2 months. I have been having ear and throat problems but I feel better now but the nodes are still swollen. One is the size of a pea but rock hard and the other is the size of a a half a grape. Just scared to go to the doc but I guess I should. Just dont want to be told I have cancer.
