What Can Cause The Skin Around Stitches To Be White?

I got 3 stitches on the tip of my finger 8 days ago. The skin on the edge is black but the skin around the stitches is white. There is no puss, bleeding or abnormal pain it is the white skin that had me concerned. Is it time for my stitches to come out?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of skin around stitches to be white which is a sign of healing due to formation of granulation tissue in that area. Need not to worry. i would suggest you to

-Massage the area with olive or almond oil to increase the blood supply to that area so that it will heal itself from within.Do it 2-3 times daily.

-Keep exfoliating your dead skin from that site.

-Use cream like contractubex cream. Massage it to only affected area 2-3 times daily for 2 -3 months, avoid contact with eyes. Also read instructions before use.

If marks still persists consult dermatologist .Doctor may recommend you laser therapy or dermabrasion procedure.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
