What Can Cause Constant Pain In Head?

I am a 36 year old female. For about two weeks I have been getting head pain in the back of my head on the left side. They come every day. My neck also hurts on the same side (I also found a swollen lymph node on that same side about 2.5 months ago, my PCP is not concerned about it, I think it got a tiny bit bigger overnight, but that could be in my imagination and totally incidental). Today I also had a nose bleed and have been tasting blood all day. I went to the ER about the headaches a week and a half ago but they just sent me home with Vicodin. Any thoughts?

Hello dear,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.If you would have presented to me as an outpatient,I would have told you that swollen lymph node in the neck is not significant is its size is not more than 2 cm.Nasal bleed is possibly unrelated to the headache episodes. However,High blood pressure is one etiology which can result in nasal bleed as well as headache. Are you hypertensive? Are you on any blood thinning medicines?
Headache at the back of the head along with neck pain is very typical for a 'Tension type headache'.Please start doing mental relaxation exercises/Yoga/Meditation.Please discuss with your physician to start your therapy with amitriptyline in low dose.I hope it will help.Hope, the answer helped you.
