What Can Cause A Feeling Of Hard Mucus Choked Around The Vocal Chords?

So I have been having problems with my voice and the lack there of for about 2 months now; I have gone to my local DR and he said it was alligeries he wrote me a RX and sent me on my way. The symptoms cleared however never fully. In the AM I wake and choke on what appears to be hard mucus that is wrapped around my vocal cords I know this when I hack it up I can talk better what do you think this could be

Regarding your query about discomfort in throat in the form of choaking & change in voice.

I would like to tell you that our sound box has got two vocal cords for voice. Any condition which effect on tension / mobility / approximation of vocal cords may change voice.These diseases are-

1- Vocal cord thicking.

2- Vocal nodule.

3- Vocal cord polyp.

4- Growth (may be benign or malignant).

5- Paralysis / paresis of vocal cord.

All above are the common conditions of throat lead to change in voice and giving feeling of blockade in throat. For confirmation please consult your ENT doctor and be cautious about choaking as it may create emergency and is well known for threat to life.
