What Can Be Done For Blockage In The Heart Before The Surgery?

My 67 year old husband had a heart attack 3 weeks ago. He had a 99% blockage of the RCA which was opened with the placement of a stent. He also has a 90% blockage in the LDC, but the first surgical opening the doctor has is three weeks from now. He s on Brilinta, cholesterol lowering drugs, blood pressure meds along with all his Parkinsons medications (diagnosed in 2001). My question is what activity is he allowed while we wait? Can we resume our daily activities such as walking close to home and household chores, or is he a ticking time bomb? I m almost afraid to let him out of my sight. Thanks for your help. Judy

Dear I can understand your concern . Having 90% blockade does not mean that he has to rest only. Plz check he is taking antihypertensive, lipid lowering and anti platelet drugs or not.dont do any activity that may cause chest discomfort or shortness of breath but daily routine activities if he is able to do without any discomfort then he should continue with that . maintain healthy life style ..such as eat salt and saturated fat restricted diet . Diet rich in fruits and vegetables is good for him.stop alcohol or drink this in moderation that is not more than 2 drinks per day.maintain BMI less than 25..so in my opinion take proper treatment of hypertension that must include a betablocker and ACE inhibitor if there is no contraindication ,drugs for dyslipidemia and anti platelets . Be in constant touch with your physician and get PTCA done as soon as possible without any panic.hope this will help.
