What Are Tightness In Chest, Fatigue, Nausea And Scratchy Throat Suggestive Of?

Hi I woke up this morning with this tightness pressure in my chest. Mostly right side. When I breath in I feel it tighten in my sternum. I initially thought I pulled muscles with some stretching before bed. I also have Coeliac disease with some oesophageal damage. I take daily esomeprazole. Throughout the day i have felt fatigued needing a lay down and some nausea with decreased appetite. For the past 2 days I have had a scratchy throat with thicker saliva secretions. My son is home from school with diarrhoea and vomiting during the night but has settled and feeling 80 percent better. If it wasn t for the tightness in chest I would presume I wAs getting a viral infection.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of tightness in chest, fatigue, nausea and scratchy throat . Well the symptoms you mention in query probably occurring due to viral infection. The symp[toms can also occur due to allergic reaction or acid reflux. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination as infection has already spread.

Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test , complete blood profile and examine ear with otoscope . Doctor may prescribe antiviral drugs ( acyclovir ) at least for a week along with decongestants and anti inflammatory . Doctor may also refer you to orthopedic specialist for severe joint pain.

For now do warm saline gargles , take steam , take proper rest , keep yourself hydrated and apply dry hot compresses to ear . Also take over the counter antihistamine like benadryl twice a day .
