What Are The Uses And Side Effects Of Biotin?

I have only one kidney and do not take any drugs for pain other than Tylenol. I would like to start taking Biotin to help with my hair loss and nails that split and break so easily. Would the Biotin be harmful since i only have the one kidney? I had renal cell carcinoma in 09 and the tumor was contained within that kidney and had not spread. I did not have to have treatment and every year my scans look good. But i would like to take the Biotin since i have seen amazing results with hair loss and nail growth.

Welcome to HCM and thanks for the query.
Biotin is water soluble vitamin B7. It does not harm the kidneys. There is no risk of cumulative toxicity as being water soluble, it is excreted by the kidney.
Best wishes,
Dr Noble Zachariah
