What Are The Tests To Be Performed For Heart Check Up?
i am a 3rd year medical student from orissa. my dad (50 yrs, 70 kg) is a patient of hypertension since 5 years and is under losartan medication( bp still averaging 160/100 in spite of continued medication). I was thinking of having a complete heart check up for him as he frequently complains of chest pain and risk is obvious. what are the tests to be performed and where would it be a good place to have it done in bhubanesar/ cuttack?
Hello Since you are a medical student of third year and still the BP of your father is high (160 / 100 mm of Hg) in spite of this that he is taking losartan , so at once I advise to change the medicine before any test . When such type of patient visit my clinic I advise them to take "POLYCAP "( ingredients are simvastatine, ramipril, atenololhydrochorthiazide, aspirin) capsule once in day as it will control BP for 24 hours and also lowers lipid ( if any ) . You must get in these tests . Blood for lipid profile , serum craetinie , C PK , SUGAR . E K G , E C HO , TREADMILL TEST , angiography ( if neede angioplasty). Hope this will help you.
