What Are The Symptoms Of Peripheral Neuropathy In A Diabetic Female?

I am a 32 year old female. I have been experiencing what I believe to be peripheral neuropathy. My feet started tingling several days ago and it is slowly moving up my legs. I have never been diagnosed with diabetes, but I am overweight (5'9", 240 lbs). Last night a friend tested my blood sugar; it was 150. Should I go to the emergency room or should I wait until tomorrow morning to go to my general practitioner?

Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear madam i can understand your concern.

with one random blood sugar reading its difficult to diagnose diabetes.

i suggest you to check a test called Hba1c% for better analysis of the condition
Hba1c% greater than 6.5% is considered as diabetes.

i would like to tell you regarding diagnostic criteria of diabetes
he diagnosis of diabetes requires one of the following:

• A fasting glucose ≥ 126 mg/dL;

• A hemoglobin A1c level ≥ 6.5%;

• A random glucose level > 200 mg/dL in a markedly symptomatic patient(symptoms like increased urination,thirst,weight loss,blurred vision and non healing ulcers.

regarding neuropathy in diabetes.
its a very late complication and seen in diabetes uncontrolled for a long time.
its not expected in you
vitamin b12 and vitamin D deficiency also which can give you the similar picture.

go meet your gp and ask him for B12 and vit D testing.

hope this explains
