What Are The Symptoms Of Leishmaniasis?

I think I have leishmaniasis...I visited about 4 years ago Paraguay And suffer bites of dengue transmitting mosquitoes and was with fever and all symptoms.of dengue came back to America but Iwas never the same ..feel always chillies and fever...and nausea...when to the hospital and since I have no insurance ..they bill me but never knew what I have ...they found that I have enlarged liver..(I do not drink)..my spleen was also enlarged...lately I could not even pee anymore I felt like all my urinary tract was blocked or congested...then I looked up my urine and found little worms....I concluded that Iwas bitten 4 years ago by a anopheles moskitoe that also transmits filariasis ..a type of round worm...or if not this perhaps leishmania..(protozoa infection)...that also produces spleenmegalia and liver enlargement...but feel really bad and if you are alone and have no insurance you can die in America..the worst is that..Ican be bitten by a mosquito and transmits this zoonosis to others.

Hi,
Your symptoms are similar to Leishmaniasis and unfortunately to a lot of other infectious diseases. Fever, chills, enlarged liver and spleen, adbominal pain, dark urine**, nausea are sympt of Leshmaniasis, but the protozoa is so small that it lives intrecellular, and can be seen only through a microscope (cell microscopy is one of the ways how the diagnosis is confirmed)
It is not filariasis. At least you can take this of your mind.
I am sorry that you do not have insurance, but you need to do some tests to confirm leishmaniasis, even though the signs and symptoms show that it is very likely that you have it. But confirming tests give you the possibility to start treatment.
Hope I have answered your question.
Wish you good health!
