What Are The Symptoms Of Iron Deficiency?

I have a high total bilirubin of 2, and low monocytes of .06 absolute. My triglycerides are high at 206. I have no symptoms, these were found on routine physical. I do look jaundice in my eyes, but thats about it. Do I have an iron deficiency or lack of B12- or more serious?

Hello!
I read carefully your query.
The iron deficiency and lack of Vit B12 are causes of anemia but they don't cause elevation of bilirubin in blood.

The common causes of high elevated bilirubin are liver diseases, hemolitic anemia (the early destruction of red blood cells in bloodstream).
If you have done complete blood test and your red blood cells number and hemoglobin level was in normal range than anemia is excluded.

In this case your doctor should evaluate your liver for possible disorders than can be the cause of this elevated level of Bilirubin.
You should do some test such as SGOT,SGPT,Direct bilirubin, abdominal ultrasound.
Also some medications can cause high bilirubin so if you are taking any kind of medication tell to your doctor so he can evaluate this possibility.

I suggest to consult a physician and get these tests done in order to sort out the right cause and get the right treatment.

Hope my answer has helped.
Take care
Dr.Rovena
