What Are The Symptoms Of Herpes?

Hi, today is sunday and yesterday morning i woke up during the night with an itch in my scrotum and tip of my penis. I went to my GP first thing in the morning and did a urine test and took medication for chlamydia. I have had chamydia before and it was not this painful. I went home and tried to sleep and the pain got worse so i went to the hospital. There the doctors prescribed me medication for herpes and told me to watch for any blisters to form. I went back to my GP and he did a swab test on my penis, telling me he doubts its herpes. Today the itchiness has gotten better, but has also spread to my anus. Here are the factors. Last month I went to thailand and had unprotected oral sex (fellatio) with a girl. This was less than a month ago. As soon as i got back I got tested for everything besides herpes with everything coming back negative. Since then I have only had sex once and it was protected. In the days coming up to my itchiness, I didnt shower for two days. I go to the gym so im thinking it might be some kind of jock itch type infection. I cant see any rash, just a mild red coloring around my foreskin. There is no discharge, just a severe, painful burning sensation around the tip (opening) of my penis, the lip around the head of my penis (under my foreskin), the bottom of my scrotum and my anus opening. Today I bought antifungal cream and it gave me temporary relief but now when i reapply it stings. any help would be appreciated Nick

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

Herpes simplex infection is common following an oral sex.
The prodrome of Herpes simplex can manifest as burning or itching or tingling, subsequently within a or two it will manifest as vesicles (blisters) and ulcers.
I had come across in some individuals the prodrom persists for a week or so without going for manifestation.
So it is better to have a course of Aciclovir or Valcyclovir for 5-7 days. If necessary, it may be continued in low dosage as a suppressive therapy till you feel better.
