What Are The Symptoms Of Colon Cancer?

I have been diagnosed with severe crohns disease and diverticulitis. I have had much of my colon and intestines removed. I had an iliostomy bag. They removed it but said I would probably have to have it again later in life. I am 52 years of age. I just had another colonoscopy and they found a ugly brown cyst like think on the mid-descending colon. Could this be cancer?

Good morning
Sorry to hear about your illhealth
The findings that described in the mid descending colon are suspicious. Cancers usually arise from colonic polyps with look like outward growths with or without peduncle. And whether it is really cancer or not only a biopsy and histologic examination (in the pathology lab) will confirm it
Patients who are suffering from crohn's disease for a long time are at increased risk of cancer in the colon and intestines and so periodic surveillance colonoscopies are recommended.
I would also like look at your medication list for crohn's disease. I would liek to bring to your attention that many newer biological therapies have come in last decade and a half which have actually prevented repeat surgeries to certain extent. I would like you to check with your physician about them
I am sure that your physician is also taking care of your diverticular disease
I hope I answered your question
I would be happy to hear from you again in case of any further queries
Wish you a speedy recovery
