What Are The Symptoms Of Arthritis?

I have been having a burning sensation in my right ankle for 3 days. I think it may be arthritis but am unsure because of my DVT/PE background. I currently wear compression stockings because the veins in my right leg are destroyed. The pain is intense when i'm walking or sitting. I'm a teacher and a mother of two under age 5, so I'm always on my feet. It's hard to teach or play with the kids with pain; I've tried tylenol, because that's all that's really safe for me to have. I've tried ice too. I really don't want to have to take anything major for pain. I just want to know what's causing the pain, so I can at least get through the weekend so I can see my doctor this week.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us,

I have studied your case with diligence.
As per your history there can be tear in ankle ligament leading to pain and swelling.
Instability may increase due to laxity of ligament.

I will advise to do MRI ankle for soft tissue involvement.
Till time you can continue use supportive splint or brace.
Physiotherapy like ultrasound and TENS will help in early healing.

If there is complete ligament tear on lateral aspect then arthroscopic ankle ligament repair can be done.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
