What Are The Symptoms Of Swimmer S Ear?

My 6 year old son had tubes put in both ears last July. ENT had advised he could swim in pools without plugs as long as no diving and clean water. Today after jumping into a 4 ft pool, he immediately came up complaining of intense pain in right ear. He stopped complaining and continued swimming. Four hours later he began complaining of a bubble like feeling in ear and pain when yawning. Later he began to cry of pain. Could this be swimmers ear or something else?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Yes it is quite posibble that he has swimmers ear - infection of the outer ear canal.
Kindly visit an ENT doctor for broad spectrum antibiotics and antiinflammatory/ analgesic medications and steroid ear drops.

You need to consider precautions like keeping the ear dry. Avoid swimming till it gets completely cured. Avoid inserting foreign objects to the ear for cleaning purposes.
2 drops of A mixture of vinegar and alcohol of equal proportions helps keep the ear dry. Therefore, please consult your doctor regarding this.
