What Are The Symptoms And Treatment For PCOS?

Hi I m thirty seven years old. I have all of the symptoms of polycystic ovarian syndrome but my hormone blood work at my family physician came back normal. I have facial hair, chest hair, and hair growing on my butt. Is there a birth control that has estrogen or helps limit facial hair? Does DHEA help with this problem in any way? Also, is there no way to internally make hormones change sex organs back to the original color? Thank you.

Hello,
It is the unbalanced estrogen content in the body in PCOS that leads to the excess hair growth in unwanted areas. This high estrogen is modified into testosterone derivatives. If the complete hormone profile including FSH, LH, estrogen, progesterone, AMH, serum DHEAS levels, thyroid profile, serum Prolactin and tests for insulin tolerance have come up normal, you may need genetic tests to plan further management. Please see an endocrinologist for further assistance. Maintain a healthy weight, regular exercise and a healthy diet as this is going to help in PCOS management. Take care.
