What Are The Side Effects Of Using Misoprostol Tablet During Pregnancy?

Am 7wks pregnant and I used misoprotol, in the first day, I saw little blood with clotted blood, after the 3rd I saw more blood. This is the 5th day and am still seeing more with big clotted blood, I thought there shouldn t be that big clotted blood for 7wks pregnancy

At the outset I would like to emphasize that self-administration of this medication is not recommended.

Misoprostol along with Mifepristone is used to terminate an early pregnancy.
This medication is to be used after consulting a gynecologist because of the serious side effects associated with it.

The most common side effects include:

Abdominal cramps (due to contraction of the womb) & severe profuse vaginal bleeding, headache and fainting.

Bleeding with cramps starts in a few hours, and lasts heavily for a few days.
Spotting might continue for 15 days or more.
You are advised to have a follow up ultrasound after 15 days to establish that the womb is empty and the abortion is now complete.
