What Are The Side Effects Of Using Mirvaso?

I have been using metrogel for quite a few years. The pharmacy changed my prescription to what I believe is a generic form, Metronidazole 1% topical gel with instructions to use twice a day. My doctor also gave me a prescription for Mirvaso. He said to use Mirvaso in the morning & the other at night. All of a sudden my nose is red again & my blood pressure has gone up by about 20. I did not have high blood pressure before using the new medication. I have been using them since March 13, 2014. I think one of them is the cause.

Hello
Welcome to HCM. Thanks for posting your query.

I understand your concerns.
Mirvaso contains brimonidine that will act by narrowing the blood vessels. It is applied topically for facial erythema. Don't apply it on the cut wounds and raw wounds.

As you have rightly thought, increase in your blood pressure is due to this drug alone.
Don't apply the cream twice or thrice. Apply it only once.

Hope this helps you.

Thank you
