What Are The Side Effects Of Using Metformin Tablet?

Hi there, My mum has been taking metformin for over a week. It gives her more wind. She also has a haemeroid outside her bottom. Today she said she broke wind and there was blood everywere. I suggested it may be the haemeroid. And next time she had to go to let me know. Shes just rung and said every time she breaks wind she releases blood. SHe hasn t even been to the toilet this afternoon, she feels like she wants to go then gets to the toilet, breaks wind releases blood then nothing?? thankyou

Hello
Welcome to HCM.

I can understand your concerns.

Does she has constipation?

I think she needs to evaluated by a surgeon.
Pissibility of having hemorrhoides is high because there is fresh blood everytime.

Ask to drink lots of water and take fibrous foods.

Also, I dont think that metformin can cause this.

Hope this helps.
Thanks
