Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am curious about possible side-effects of Twinrix. I had my first injection in mid-August 2013. I had a physical done in early September 2013. Probably within a week or 10 days following injection I would have done routine blood work prior to the physical. At the time of the visit my test indicated a slightly high reading on the liver test (I don t have the information in front of me). The doctor called it to my attention as something to keep an eye on. I had my 2nd Twinrix injection in mid Sept. I recently did blood work (early January 2014) in preparation for a follow up Dr. visit. I received a note from the doctor that the liver reading is once again elevated. Is there any connection? I do not drink or abuse my liver in any other way that I know of. Please advise. Thanks
This increase does not necessarily reflect significant dysfunction of the liver. The liver function tests may also return to normal after the course of the vaccine is completed in some persons.
You should consider speaking to your doctor about your concerns.
I hope this helps
