What Are The Side Effects Of Taking Diltiazem Along With Metoprolol Succinate?
Dear Doctor, I have just been advised to add dilitiazem 24 hr-ER coated beads (120 mg 24 hr cap) to my current Rx of metroprolol succinate (100 mg 24 hr-XL tab taken orally twice a day) for the purpose of reducing my heart rate. I have PAF. Last pulse reading by ECG one day ago was 119 and BP was 126/70. I have had this condition for approx. 2 decades, w/o knowing what it was. Am concerned about adverse side effects from the combination of meds. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you. Mary O Donnell YYYY@YYYY
You should not take these drugs at the same time cause it has serious interactions. Either can increases toxicity of the other by unspecified interaction mechanism. Avoid it, or use alternative drugs. These two drugs also can increase the risk of bradycardia.
So, I'll suggest tou to discuss it further with your treating doctor.
Hope this answer your question. Take care
