Probably you have gastro-esophageal reflux disease. In GERD, contents of the stomach come back into the esophagus. GERD often causes heartburn, a burning feeling in the chest and throat. Heartburn may happen many times a week, especially after eating or at night. Sore throat is due to burning of pharyngeal mucosa by acid reflux.
Protonix is a safe medicine. You can take it without fear. Only long term treatment for years increases risk of osteoporosis.
Advice
1.     Protonix 40 mg per oral empty stomach in the morning for 10 days
2.     Domperidone 10 mg per oral when you feel nausea
3.     Avoid alcohol, smoking, spicy food, and non-steroidal pain killer for few days
4.     Avoid coffee and tea after meal
5.     Avoid eating 3 hours before lying down
6.     Raise the head of your bed
7.     Do not eat heavily at a time. Eat smaller meals
8.     Do not lie down immediately after meal
Thanks
