What Are The Side Effects Of Lamictal?
My 11 year old son has autism. He takes Focalin and Tenex. Today his psychiatrist suggested Lamictal and told me to consider it as a mood stabilizer for him...what I have been reading in various places from different people who have taken it, is very disturbing to me. I have read the side effects, they are a little frightening. He is high functioning.

Both Focalin(methylphenidate) and Tenex (Guanfacine) is used to address at the attention deficit. Lamictal(lamotrigine) may help in stabilising the mood(high functioning). I am not sure from your description about what effect of drug you are worried about. But serious events are considerably rare and that should not preclude the use of Lmaictal.
I would have suggested my patient to not worry about the side effects. Let a trial of Lamictal begin, if there is any side effects or if the drug is not effective, then other options can be considered.
