What Are The Side Effects Of Increasing Dosage Of Sertraline?
Hi I have been on 50mg Sertraline and 40mg x 3 propranolol since April. I have been to the doctors as want to wean off propranolol as put so much weight on. Doctor advised me to cut down to 2 a day for 2 weeks and then 1 a day for 2 weeks. I have been taking 1 a day since Friday and am feeling very anxious and have choking sensation in my throat back. He did advise me when I saw him that if I struggled to increase the Sertraline to 100mg a day. Just wondered your thoughts and another question, would I possibly suffer side effects for increasing the sertraline? Thanks Suzie
Welcome to HCM and thank you for the query. Sertaline 100mg per day is not a big dose and if you are not having any side effect with a 50mg dose, you are not very likely to suffer from severe side effects. You could raise the dose to 75mg first and then to 100mg per day. Common side effects of Sertaline include sleepiness, nervousness, insomnia, dizziness, nausea, skin rash, headache, diarrhea, upset stomach, loss of appetite, dry mouth, and weight loss. It may also decrease libido. I shall be happy to answer any query you may have. Take Care Dr Noble Zachariah
