Dear Patient,
Thank you very much for your question. Masturbation is an innocent, normal sexual behavior in both males and females. It is absolutely normal and harmless. According to an Australian medical research, men who masturbate frequently when young are less prone to prostate cancer in older ages.
However, excessive masturbation can be a result of having an anxiety disorder. People who suffers from anxiety can be engaged in excessive masturbation to ease their anxiety symptoms. Even excessive masturbation can be a compulsion of obsessive compulsive disorder which is a type of anxiety disorder. Therefore, my advice is see your family physician to treat your anxiety. You can do breathing exercises to ease your anxiety. Also try to be engaged in sports which can help you to distract yourself from this activity. Though masturbation isn't harmful, excessive masturbation can be annoying because it affects your daily important activities. Therefore, my advice is consult your family doctor and treat your anxiety. I hope you donot need medications, but proper consultaion and CBT can help you to change your life style. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables, avoiding drinking alcohol and smoking is always helpful to maintain a good health. Do not worry. If you have more questions, write me.
Good Luck!
