What Are The Side Effects Of Emergency Contraceptive Pills?

I am on the pill. I started my period again 4 months ago after having a baby. This month I had a small brown spotting on the day I started my placebo pills but I have not had a period. It has been 8 days since then. I took a hpt which is negative. Took it late in the day yesterday. I have normal pregnancy symptoms but there are many variables to those. Should I retest or is it normal to have brown spotting and no real period on the pill

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The use of the oral contraceptive pill can decrease menstrual bleeding and is possibly responsible for your delay.

Pregnancy tests are accurate if done at the appropriate time. They can detect pregnancy by day 11 to 14 after conception.
If the test was done before this time then it may be falsely negative and you may want to repeat it.
However if it was done at an appropriate time then it is likely accurate and your menses would eventually return to normal.

I hope this helps
