Hi, I recently got prescribed cyclobenzaprine for some muscle pain i got from a car accident a couple of days ago. I started taking the pills last night but have now noticed i am getting what looks like hives on my right hand that both itch and have some somewhat painful to the touch. The left hand has similiar symptoms but not as much as the right hand. If i stop taking the pain medication will this go away on its own or is it more serious?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to allergic reaction to the drug. In such you should get back with your doctor after stopping the drug. In case of severe swelling or itching corticosteroid like hydrocortisone injection and antihistamine injection will be helpful. Calamine lotion for local application will help also. Other muscle relaxants like tizanidine can be substituted in such case also. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks
