I have COPD which was diagnosed at the end of October 2013. I have had 4 or 5 chest infections and was given a blue inhaler intitially and then a Qvar inhaler, though didn t really feel I was managing my COPD very well. I had 5 lots of Anti-biotics and Steroids each time I had a flare-up. After the last episode I was given Symbicort, and was really impressed with the change - I was able to virtually stop using my blue inhaler. After 2 weeks I had a sore throat and lost my voice. I saw a specialst a week or so later and he confirmed that I was probably allergic or maybe because it was a turbo inhaler. He prescribed Fostair and though I found I still needed to use my blu inhaler approx. 3 single doses per day it is still a lot better than I have been on Qvar. The problem is I have still no voice. It is now 2 months since I first lost it. My GP sent me for a chest xray and blood tests which fortuanately came back fine. He is going to send me to ENT. I wonder is loss of voice a common side effect of Symbicort and Fostair? What are my options?
