What Are The Side Effects Of Propranolol?

Taken a 10mg dose of propanolol for the first time 3 times yesterday, given by doctor for rapid heart rate. Taken twice today. Regretting the decision after reading side effects even though they calmed me down. Would I have bad effects if I took no more.

Hi,

Propranolol is an old and well-documented drug. We know what can go wrong with it and how it may help a patient. All drugs come with side effects though and Propranolol is no exception. Reading about the side effects does not mean you're going to experience any of them. Most side effects are infrequent.

Since you've been helped by Propranolol so far, I would suggest talking about your fears with the treating doctor before taking any decisions. Stopping it cold turkey may result in reactive tachycardia. Sometimes there are no consequences but it can't be predicted for any particular individual.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
