Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently finished my period and started taking the microgynan pill again for around 3 days, however i forgot to take them and haven t taken a pill for 5 days now and i seem to be back on my period, but heavier and with more stomach aches? is this normal.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Microgynon tablets are a type of hormonal contraception which contains ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel, which is combined oral contraceptive pill. What problems you have been facing is withdrawal bleeding, which happens when you stop taking the pills abruptly after a short duration. It can cause heavy bleeding and could be associated with stomach cramps. Kindly begin the medication properly at the next cycle and see that this does not happen again. Missing a tablet or two would increase the chances of conceiving, and in such case, you need to use barrier methods and/or spermicidal agents for protection against pregnancy. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
