Hi Doctor , I wanted to know how useful Mala-D is to prevent pregnancy and what are the Side effects? As me and my wife dont want to use condom and even she dont want to be pregnant for time being. Thanks

Mala-D is quite safe and you need not worry about side effects.
If properly taken as instructed without skipping even a single dose, it is very effective in preventing pregnancy.

Mala - D comes in a pack of 28 tablets. The first 21 tablets are the medicines to prevent pregnancy. The next 7 tablets are iron tablets.
Your wife has to start taking the tablet on 1st day of period ( the day bleeding starts) and continue in the order shown on the strip for 28 days. Then she has to wait for the periods to come and again start on the first day of the period.
Usually the periods will come immediately after the 28 days.
Till the starting of next period use condom and then start on pill. Whether you have intercourse or not the pills should be continued for 28 days. During this period you may have intercourse when ever you want.
