What Are The Side Effects Of Entresto?

Hi doctor, thank you being a supportive role. i have a question about the medicine named: Entresto. my husband s doctor order the Entresto to replace Enalapril 10mg which he had been using for over last 10 years. We would like to know more detail about this medicine ENTRESTO, the side effects, pros and cons of this medication. Is it a new medicine in the market? things like that, thank you very much of your time. Barbara

well, it is a combination of two drugs. ONe which is close to identical to the enarlapril and a second that works by a similar mechanism. One prevents the formation of a hormone that squeezes arteries and the heart (enarlapril) and the other just blocks the same hormone.
Two medicines are generally with more effect than one, so, the entresto has more of an effect on heart failure than vasotec/enarlapril. WIthout actual heart failure there isn't that much of a benefit of two drugs than one.
