Hello there,
Thank you for the question.
PCOD is a very common problem. In this there is problem in ovulation (egg release from the ovary) so periods become delayed and some women find difficulty in conceiving. It would have helped to know your age. To tackle the problem of delayed and irregular periods and the hormonal imbalance we prescribe Duoluton l which is a combination of estrogen and progesterone hormones which will regularise your periods. Assuming that you are not planning to conceive then this is the right medicine for you for about 2-3 months after which many women find that their periods regularise. There are some side effects with these medicines but no effect on the pancreas. The side effects include, headaches, breast tenderness, flushing. Rarely some women may have increased chances of clotting, or increase in BP. If you have a family history of vein clotting or you have had episode of vein clotting then you should avoid taking this medicine. However let me reassure you that many women across the globe are taking these hormones and the side effects are very rare. Some weight gain maybe seen with these medicines but that is about 2-3 kgs not more. If you are already overweight try to lose some weight as this will help your PCOD problem.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
