Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I let a tooth infection go over a month before starting an antibiotic. I took clindamycin for 7 days now two later my infection still exists; swollen cheek; nausea; diarrhea; low body temp(avg 97); extreme difficulty urinating; kidney soarness; slight chest pain-feels like fluid pressing up against right chambers; cranial pressure-not a headache but feels like pressure
Hi Thanks for your query. I appreciate your concern for the safety of Clindamycin.
Its common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, joint pain, fever, headache, heartburn, or sore throat.
Bloody diarrhea with severe abdominal cramps, dehydration and shock can also occur with the use of Clindamycin and this is one of the serious adverse effects. It is due to overproduction of toxins produced by Clostridium difficille-a normal bacterial gut flora.
It seems your tooth infection is not responding to Clindamycin, you have to consult your treating dentist for the use an alternate but safer antibiotic.
Hope this answers your query.
