What Are The Side Effects Of Citalopram?

My doctor just perscribed me 40mg of Citalopram but told me to take half of it every morning for my depression and anxiety. I woke up this morning and my bottem gums were inflamed. I took another citalopram this morning because I didn't think it had anything to do with my gums redness and bleeding. Should I stop taking the citalopram?

Thanks for asking to healthcaremagic.I understand your concern.
Detailed answer:CNS effects(Headache,Somnolence, insomnia),Gastrointestinal distress like nausea, diarrhea, constipation may occur relative to other innumerable side effects for example bleeding gums, which are very less common.I would advise you to stop the drug and discuss this with your treating doctor for considering alternative drugs like escitalopram, venlafexine that are relatively safe.Hope i have answered your query. If any further questions, happy to answer you.Take care.
