What Are The Side Effects Of Cephalexin 500mg?

Hello. My husband was prescribed last night Cephalexin 500mg capsules 4 times a day For an infection on his inside thigh. He woke up this morning and could hardly walk his lower back pain is so bad. It has not improved in 8 hours. Can this be a side effect of the cephalexin? If so should we ask for something to pair it with ( diclofenac sodium tsblets or the like?) so at least he can walk? He did call dr and his response was wait a week and well see if its any better. Any thoughts?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

All medications have potential side effects that may or may not occur.

Cephalexin can be rarely associated with joint pain in some persons so it is possible that it is contributing to his pain.

The use of an anti inflammatory pain medication such as the diclofenac mentioned would help .
Other possibilities would be ibuprofen, naproxen

I hope this helps
