Hello,
This is Dr. Papaqako answering your question.
Thank you for posting your question to HCM.
Considering the age of your mother, to make sure Celexa is safe for her, tell your doctor if you have: a bleeding or blood clotting disorder; liver or kidney disease; narrow-angle glaucoma; seizures or epilepsy;
heart disease,
heart failure, a
heart rhythm disorder, slow heartbeats, or recent history of heart attack; personal or family history of Long QT syndrome; an
electrolyte imbalance (such as low levels of potassium or magnesium in your blood);
bipolar disorder (
manic depression); or a history of drug abuse or suicidal thoughts. All these problems would need to consider lowering the dose of th drug, or using it with caution.
Also common Celexa side effects may include: drowsiness, dizziness, weakness; anxiety, feeling shaky, sleep problems (insomnia); vision changes;
nausea, loss of appetite, diarrhea, constipation; dry mouth, yawning;
cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing,
sore throat, cough;
increased sweating; changes in weight; ect.
These side effects get better with the time. Also, the drug will need 2-4 weeks to take full action, and the side effects will get better in the time that the drug is taking action.
Hope this helps,
If you have any other question, let me know.
