What Are The Side Effects Of BCG Vaccine Revaccination?

Hello Dr, My daughter has been given BCG vaccine immediately on 2nd day after birth, now she is 4 months, 1 week and 2 days old till now she has not got any scar or pus on her hand, when we visited the hospital the doctor has suggested having re-vaccination, without any test in this week. Now my question is can I give her re-vaccination without any tests, if so is there any side effects? How safe is to give BCG her re-vaccination before 6 months?

your doctor rightly gave bcg after birth . And the latest reccomendation are to revvacinate with BCG if ther is no scar formation even at 4months of age as in your childs case. there is no need to do any tests prior to revacination and the side effects are the same as with 1st dose like there may be minor fever, swelling at the bcg site , nodule formation etc which are all seen at bcg site. bcg is safe and ideally given as early as possible after birth
