General & Family Physician 's  Response
Attentrol is atomoxetine and is a drug prescribed for ADHD and children respond well to this drug. Most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite.

The main problem with the drug is the risk of suicidal thoughts that is especially seen in adolescent children. Yet no reported cases of suicide have occurred in the literature. The drug is likely to make people agitated and aggressive. Another risk is the chance of liver damage.

So in a nutshell the two serious things to watch out with atomoxetine is for suicidal thoughts in a child and jaundice, a sign of liver damage. However these side effects are not very common.

Methylphenidate is another option which may be considered besides atomoxetine.
