General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Anise is scientifically known as 'Pimpinella anisum'.
Anise is well known as a carminative and an expectorant. In high doses, it is used as an antispasmodic and an antiseptic and for the treatment of cough, asthma, and bronchitis.
Its usual dose is 0.5 to 3 g of seed or 0.1 to 0.3 mL of the essential oil.
Anise may cause allergic reactions of the skin, respiratory tract and GI tract.
You need to seek medical attention promptly in case you notice such allergic reactions.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
