General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. Common side effects of Amoxicillin include allergy, nausea, vomiting, pain in stomach, loose motions, stomatitis ( red & sensitive tongue ) your problem of red & sore tongue is due to depletion of normal bacterial flora from oral cavity ( Lactobacilli - which protect the oral lining & produce vitamin B complex in intestine causing B complex/ folic acid deficiency ) You should start using boroglycering or tess ointment application to tongue/ Lactobacilli ( sporlac granules )/ folic acid pills ( orally).. available over the counter... along with your course of antibiotics. Discuss it with your treating doctor. Thanks,
