What Are The Side Effects Of Amitriptyline Overdose?

Hi My wife suffers from mental health problems and yesterday afternoon she took a number of amitriptyline and paracetamol. She has no idea how many. This was done while I was out and I didn t realise until she told me this morning! What should I do? She is very drowsy but has eaten some breakfast and had a cup of tea.

Hello. Some of the side effects of amitriptyline- Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, weight gain, or trouble urinating. Paracetamol overdose can cause liver problems. Kindly take your wife to a hospital. She may need stomach wash and some antidote for the overdose of tablets. Regards- Dr Sanjay Kini
