What Are The Side Effects Of Ambien Drug?

My (66 yr.) husband has been taking Ambien sleep med. for sometime now and it doesn`t seem to be working for him as well as it used to. I have heard that the side effect of this drug can cause symptons similar to Dimensha. (which he has now) He now has added a bottle of beer before going to bed with the Ambien too. I am VERY concerned that he is heading down a road that is very bad!! Oh yes, now he is taking Aderall to help with his short attection these days, because of the dimensha. I don`t know what to do???? Am I overly concerned??? Thank you for your help.

You are right to be concerned. Combining alcohol with a drug like Ambien is dangerous. Both drugs can aggravate or eventually lead to problems such as dementia. If he has this problem already, the addition of such drugs can only make things worse. Without knowing the rest of his history, I am also concerned about the Adderall. Is he seeing a doctor that specializes in dementia treatment? This would be a neurologist. I would recommend seeing such a specialist and discussing your concerns with him or her. Hope this helps.
