What Are The Side Effect Of Butran Patches?

I have been using 10 MG Butran Patches since the middle of October for my chronic back pain. The 10 MG helps to relieve some of my pain but depending on what I do sometimes my pain is still at a level 10. If I start using 15 MG instead of 10 MG what can I expect as far as side affects?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome.
Thanks for posting your query on HCM.
I can understand your concern.
Butrans (Buprenorphine) skin patches is an opioid pain medication.
It seems from your history that 10 microgram/hr dose is not sufficient to provide adequate analgesia ('no pain'). You may increase the dose to 15 microgram/hr. The maximum dose is 20 microgram/hour. The minimum Butran titration (dose increment) interval should be 72 hours.
Since it is an opioid drug you can expect headache, sleep disturbances, constipation, painful/difficult urination, itching, addiction (dependence), cough, etc as its side effects.
Hope I could answered your query.
A feed back is appreciated.
