What Are The Repercussion Of Taking Remedol Post Expiry Date?

Hy! My son is almost 8 years old has fever and I gave him 10 ml of remedol 250mg. The problem is that I descovered now that the syrup is experied from November 2014. Because the bottle wasn't open I didn't check the expired date, I just gave it to him ? What I should do?

Can understand your concern..

As per your complain an expired medicine is the one which has its shelf life over and after the expiry date the medicine should strictly be disposed off and should not be taken as the decomposition products formed after the expiry date can be toxic in nature..

In case a medicine is expired and if it has got only its efficiency reduced then many a times there is no side effect observed after intake of an expired medicine.

BUT in some medicines the decomposition products if toxic in nature can cause severe side effects and toxicity..

I would suggest you to wait and watch for some time but keep a keen eye on your son and if you see any side effects leading from a small rash or vomiting or anything for that matter you should immediately take him to emergency room..
