What Are The Reasons For Missing Periods, Spotting And Negative Pregnancy Tests?

I had my last period jan 14- jan 18- 2014. A normal period. Now im actually 16 days late. (No period all feb) but some days I get light browins spots when wipe only and some lite pinking only when wipe. Its been more than a month since last period but I have taken 4 pregnancy test which are all negative. Can i be pregnant. My first pregnancy I didnt fine out till I was 5 months.

Pregnancy tests are usually very sensitive and detect pregnancy by 10 days after the missed period in women with regular periods. You have already detected pregnancy very late in you previous pregnancy.

So it is important to rule this out early now. Please use a new kit of good brand and check the expiry date of the kit before opening it. Use the first morning sample of urine to test. If this is negative, then other causes of delayed periods like ovarian cysts, hormonal imbalances need to be ruled out. For this see a gynecologist, get an ultrasound and a hormonal profile done. The treatment will then follow the cause.
