Hi there,
Welcome to HCM,
At 43 years of age, if you have
irregular periods, mood swings, painful sex ( which is probably due to
vaginal dryness). The first thing to rule out would be perimenopausal symptoms.
You should get your FSH levels done and if they turn out more than 30 then it would indicate that you are in the perimenopausal phase.
The other causes of these symptoms could be thyroid problems. So, to get tested for thyroid hormones is also indicated.
I would also recommend a pelvic
ultrasound to see the lining of your womb as irregular period in this age we need to rule out a condition called
endometrial hyperplasia.
For the painful sex, you can use a water based lubricant, but if your FSH values come up high then local estrogen creams are also helpful.
If you are having repeated urine infection then this also would point to
menopause as towards menopause due to decrease in estrogen hormone the frequency of Urine infection is more common.
Do not worry.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
