What Are The Reasons For Discomfort In Upper Abdomen And Itchy Skin While Having Family History Of Pancreatic Cancer?
Hi...I am a 35 year old woman. I have had increasing discomfort in the upper abdomen and into my back that seems to get worse when I eat. I have also had itchy skin...everywhere! I know it's not very common, but my father died from pancreatic cancer and I know it's not something I want to mess around with.
There are different causes of generalised itching such as : allergies, skin infection, liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid disease.
Your GP or a dermatologist would be able to assess the itching to determine the possible cause of the itching. This may just involve history or examination but if the cause is unclear blood tests may also be needed.
In terms of the discomfort, this may be related to GERD or peptic ulcer disease since it is worse with eating. Your doctor would also be able to assess you for this.
I hope this helps
