What Are The Pros And Cons For Doing The Surgery Of Jaw Break?

I have a 7 yr old daughter with underbite a little over a 1/2 from top teeth, our dentist is advising us to see a orthodontist for surgery to break her jaw, we are very concerned. I don t want my childs jaw broke, we went today and was told they would need to break her jaw, we thought we were going to possibly speak of having braces put on, what are the pros and cons if we decide to do this. I want more than 1 opinion on doing this.

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
As far as the maloclusion is concerned, i advise you to not to go for surgery. Till the age of 14yrs, the permanent teeth erupts so, at that time you can decide whether surgery is required or not. Till then wait and watch. Mean while you can take opinion from a good orthodontist.
I hope my answer will help you, take care.
