General & Family Physician 's  Response
Augmentin is an antibacterial combination amoxicillin and the β-lactamase inhibitor, clavulanic acid. Augmentin is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergic reactions to any penicillin. Augmentin possesses the characteristic low toxicity of the penicillin group of antibiotics. Augmentin is generally well tolerated. The majority of side effects are mild and transient in nature. Common side effects include diarrhea/loose stools, nausea, skin rashes and urticaria, vomiting and vaginitis. The overall incidence of side effects, and in particular diarrhea, increased with the higher recommended dose. Other less common side effects reactions include abdominal discomfort, flatulence, and headache.
Advice
1.     Continue Augmentin as suggested by your doctor
2.     Take food rich in probiotics such as yogurt, high-quality dark chocolate, and green pickle to prevent diarrhea due to Augmentin
Thanks
